MARENHOLTZ-BÜLOW, mä'ren-hṓlts bụ'lṓ, Bertha von (1810-93). A German educator, born in Brunswick. Attracted by the ideas of Friedrich Fröbel (q.v.), whom she met in 1850, she became his disciple and devoted her life to founding kindergartens in Germany and many other European countries. Among her writings are: Beiträge zum Verständnis Friedrich Fröbels (1876), and a number of pamphlets on the kindergarten, several of which have been translated into English.
