NIC'UM, John (1851—). An American clergyman and author, born at Winnenden, Württemberg. He studied at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pa., and at the Philadelphia Theological Seminary. In 1876 he became pastor at Frockville, Pa., but two years later removed to Philadelphia, where he remained two years, and then went to Syracuse, N. Y. In 1887 he took charge of the Saint John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rochester. His books include History of the New York Ministerium (1884), and Confessional History of the Lutheran Church in the United States (1891).
