PEUTINGER, poĭ'ting-ẽr, Konrad (1465-1547). A German antiquary, born at Augsburg. He studied law at Padua, and at twenty-eight became syndic of his native city, which he represented in several Diets, notably that of Worms in 1521. His writings on classical antiquities were very valuable; the most important is Inscriptiones Romanæ (1520). He is best known as owner of the Tabula Peutingeriana.
