Mori′ah, Mount, a hill in Palestine, forming a part of the site of Jerusalem. Solomon's temple was built upon it, and at its foot, in the valley of Jehoshaphat, is the Virgin's Fountain, an intermittent spring from which the water flows through an aqueduct cut into the mountain into the Pool of Siloam. When the temple was destroyed at the taking of Jerusalem, Mount Moriah was literally plowed over. It is the site of the great mosque of Jerusalem, which occupies about one seventh of the present city.
