In 1879 George Ehret paid $350,000 for 411 lots on Washington Heights. Sold in 1891 by Henry Morgenthau and his associates at auction for $1,494,300. The same lots to-day are valued conservatively at $5,000,000 to $6,000,000, and are sites of modern apartment houses. The Broadway Subway made this development possible. What, then, will the Dual Subway System (both Interboro and B. R. T.) do for Jackson Heights, where land values now are very moderate and apartment builders already active?
