JOSEPH SUDIK
Joseph Sudik, 83, a resident of Colfax county and of Schuyler for more than 60 years, died at St. Mary’s hospital in Columbus Friday forenoon at 10:30. Mr. Sudik spent a week at the hospital as a medical patient.
Mr. Sudik was one of the nine children born to Vaclav and Marie Bartos Sudik. He was born in Zelezne, Unhost, Bohemia, Nov. 10, 1859. He came to the United States with his parents and other members of the family in November, 1875. The family came direct to Omaha from Bohemia and resided there a year before moving to a farm in Colfax county.
Mr. Sudik and Miss Barbara Jonas were married in Schuyler Jan, 21, 1882, by Miles Zentmyer, county pudge.
Mr. and Mrs. Sudik farmed in Midland precinct after their marriage. They retired from farm life in 1909, and moved to Schuyler where their remaining years were spent.
Mrs. Sudik died Aug. 6, 1930.
Mr. Sudik was a member of the Z. C. B. J. lodge over a long period of years.
Surviving relatives are several neices and nephews.
Brothers preceding Mr. Sudik in death were Frank, Vaclav, William, Vincenc and Edward. Two infant brothers and an infant sister also preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the late residence on East 9th street Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock and at the Z. C. B. J. hall at 2:30. Martin Kral officiated. Burial was made in the Schuyler cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers, all nephews of the deceased, were Edward Sudik, Joseph Vondruska, Henry Jonas, Arnold Jonas, Edwin Jonas and Lambert J. Jonas.
