Obituary
The death has taken place in Dublin of the Rev. A. B. Grosart, D.D., LL.D., in the 64th year of his age and the 42nd of his ministry in the United Presbyterian Church. Dr. Grosart, who was a native of Scotland was educated at the University of Edinburgh and ordained in 1856 to the pastorate of Kinross. He was afterwards minister of Princes-park, Liverpool, and finally of St. George's Blackburn. In the latter place his health broke down, and he came to reside in Dublin. Dr. Grosart was not only a successful preacher but a prolific writer on literary and historical subjects. He was, for instance, the principal authority on the life of Robert Fergusson, the Scottish poet; an enlarged edition of Dr. Grosart's book on Fergusson and his poetry was noticed in our columns about a year ago. Among his other works was a volume of sketches of "Representative Nonconformists," published in 1879. He also edited the Townely Hall, MSS., a famous collection of Jacobite ballads and satires, which appeared in 1877, and a number of early English plays.
