Dr. Henry Forster Morley, late Director of the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature, and of the Royal Society's Catalogue of Scientific Papers, died on Saturday at Midhurst.
The son of the late Professor Henry Morley, he was born in 1855 and educated at University College School, London, and at the Universities of Bonn, Munich, Berlin, and Paris. After graduating in mathematics he took his doctorate in organic chemistry in 1883. For the next four years he served as Assistant Professor at University College, London, and from 1888 to 1901 he was Professor of Chemistry at Queen's College. He was joint editor of Watts's "Dictionary of Chemistry," and contributed scientific papers to the Journal of the Chemical Society. He married in 1893 Ida Rose, daughter of Stephen Seaward Tayler, and they had one son.
