Transcription of the third edition of a work first published in 1697. Some parts of the work, such as the life of Virgil and the Arguments to the different parts, were contributed by other authors. Authorship of these parts has been attributed based on John Dryden: a bibliography of early editions and of Drydeniana (1967), by Hugh Macdonald, pp. 56-59).
