Sheet music cover
When young Augustus arrived on earth,
His papa went mad with joy;
He invited crowds of his friends around
just to see his wondrous boy!
When he was brought,
Out for their in inspection,
They said they thought,
He was just perfection,
But to one another on the strict Q, T,
They said "dear me"!
There's something rather odd about Augustus!
Just watch him circumspectly,
You'll notice it directly,
I wonder who can be to blame?
It's very sad but all the same,
There's something rather odd about Augustus.
He grew a bit and was sent to school,
Where his teacher cried, you dunce!
You must leave my class and prepare yourself
for a whipping, boy, at once!
Augustus fled,
From the man of learning,
Half dead with dread,
And upon returning,
The pedagogue Aplied the handy cane,
But all in vain,
There was something rather odd about Augustus!
The master whacked him soundly,
Augustus smiled profoundly,
And judging by that bad boys looks,
He must have hid some copy books,
Or something rather odd about Augustus.
He grew some more and he fell in love,
And he chose himself a bride;
But the morning of their wedding day
all her friends took her aside,
And said, My dear!
Have you seen Augustus?
He does look queer,
But then you can trust us,
Then the blushing bride replied with cheeks aglow,
"Well I don't know!"
(SPOKEN.) But you are quite right dears.
There's something rather odd about Augustus!
It almost sets one thinking,
Augustus has been Oh! No!
He is so nice, he is so kind!
But all the same well, never mind,
There's something rather odd about Augustus.
