There was never a Queen like Balkis
Appearance
- "There was never a Queen like Balkis", in Just So Stories (1912)
- "True Royalty", in Poems That Every Child Should Know (1904), edited by Mary Elizabeth Burt
First published in 1902 as part of "Just So Stories", where it appears after, not part of, 'The Butterfly that Stamped'. Kipling does not give the poem a title—it seems that 'True Royalty' was concocted as a title for the 'Poems That Every Child Should Know' anthology, a work which invents its own titles for a number of poems (or extracts therefrom).
