BRIGGS, Col. George Ewbank, O.B.E. (Mil.).1919: b. 10th Feb., 1856; son of Col. George Briggs, late K.D. Gds., and 3rd Hampshire Regt. Educ.: Wellington College and R.M.C.. Sandhurst; served in the Royal Fusiliers, 1875 to 1903: Commanded 3rd Batt.; also commanded Depot Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Aug. 4th, 1914 to Dec. 31st, 1918 (Despatches); m. Kathleen Mary, dau. of Sir Ernest G. Swifte, K.C., of 18 Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin; two sons and one dau.; J.P. Recns.: polo, hunting, pig-sticking and big game shooting.
