The Poore New Ye Are's Gift of Wishes Cobled Together.

We all do in obedience here present
Our joyned wishes as a new year's rent.
We had neede be all together, that we may
Help one another out what we would say.
Each in ourselves we'd satisfie much less,
Since each wish more than we can all express.
May you love nothing but what joys may bring,
And they so many as may seme to spring.
May day ne're breake but with your hart content,
Nor night e're come without a compliment.
May them that bring you any, heaven so bless,
All still may strive to increase your happiness.
May nothing that displeases with you stay,
Nor any thing delights you keep away.
Be all your sorrow with the last year gone,
Past e're returning, and may never one
Come once unto your memory, unless
It be to encrease your present happyness.
May still the settled quiet of those mindes,
Which nether interest nor passion blindes,
Bus’ness disturbes, or sickness vexes, be
Inferior to your minde’s tranquillity.
May all your riches with success be crowned,
And greater pleasure by you in them founde,
Than hope e’re promised your most stronge desire,
While to possession you did still aspire.
May the most envious your joys confess,
And such as that you merite all profess.
May all the joy that witte did e’re invent,
Afection ever wish, or heaven e’re sent,
Be all your owne, and what still more can be,

Conspire to make up your felicitie.
May every day those joys repeated see,
Till swallowed up in blest eternitie.
