Announcement of the Revolutionary Council

Whereas the Revolutionary Council entertains an opinion that, due to the vastness of Changwat Ubon Ratchathani and the increasing number of its citizens, it is, for the sake of the public administration and facilitation, improve the territory of Changwat Ubon Ratchathani by having certain Amphoes separated therefrom to constitute Changwat Yasothon; be it commanded by the Leader of the Revolutionary Council as follows:



Clause 1

Amphoe Yasothon, Amphoe Kut Chum, Amphoe Loeng Nok Tha, Amphoe Kham Khuean Kaeo, Amphoe Maha Chana Chai and Amphoe Pa Tio shall be separated from Changwat Ubon Ratchathani to constitute Changwat Yasothon which shall assume the territory of the said Amphoes existing on the date of coming into force of this Announcement of the Revolutionary Council.


Clause 2

All affairs, property, debts and rights of Changwat Ubon Ratchathani dealing with the Amphoes referred to in Clause 1 shall be transferred to Changwat Yasothon.


Clause 3

All rules, ordinances and orders in force in the Amphoes mentioned in Clause 1 shall continue to remain in force, until amendment.


Clause 4

The operations as to taxation, records and other relevant matters carried out in the Amphoes under Clause 1 shall continue to be held in the same manner, until any different order is given. The revenues collected from the Amphoe described in Clause 1 from and after the coming into force of this Announcement of the Revolutionary Council shall be delivered to Changwat Yasothon.


Clause 5

The Provincial Councillors elected in the constituencies of the Amphoes stated in Clause 1 shall become the Yasothon Provincial Councillors. And within thirty days from the coming into force of this Announcement of the Revolutionary Council, the Minister of Interior shall appoint the persons completely qualified under the law on provincial councillors to fill the vacant seats in the Yasothon Provincial Council pursuant to the law concerned.

The first Yasothon Provincial Councillors shall come to an end once the terms of office of the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Councillors expire.


Clause 6

Within thirty days from the coming into force of this Announcement of the Revolutionary Council, the Minister of Interior shall appoint the persons qualified pursuant to the law on provincial councillors to fill the vacant seats in the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Council according to the law on provincial administration. Those newly appointed shall come to an end once the terms of office of the previously appointed expire.


Clause 7

All affairs, property, debts, rights and annual expenditure budgets for the 2515th Fiscal Year of Buddhist Era which belong to the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organisation and deal with the Amphoes under Clause 1 shall be transferred to the Yasothon Provincial Administrative Organisation.


Clause 8

The government officers and the employees of the Amphoes set forth in Clause 1 who are attached to the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organisation shall become subsidiary to the Yasothon Provincial Administrative Organisation.


Clause 9

Amphoe Yasothon shall be renamed to Amphoe Mueang Yasothon.


Clause 10

The Minister of Interior shall be in charge of this Announcement of the Revolutionary Council.


Clause 11

This Announcement of the Revolutionary Council shall come into force as from March 1, BE 2515 (1972).




Done this 6th Day of February, Buddhist Era 2515 (1972).
