Constitution Amendment on the Name of the Country,
2482 Buddhist Era[1]


In the name of Somdet Phra Chaoyuhua Ananda Mahidol
The Council of Regency
(according to the announcement of the President of the House of
People’s Representatives dated 4 August 2480 Buddhist Era)[2]

Enacted on the 3rd day of October 2482 Buddhist Era
Being the 6th year of the present reign

Whereas the House of People’s Representatives has resolved that it is appropriate to call the Country in consistency with the name, race, and preference of the people;

Therefore, it is commanded, by and with the advice and consent of the House of People’s Representatives, that the following constitution amendment on the name of the Country be enacted:

Section1.This Constitution shall be called the Constitution Amendment on the Name of the Country, 2482 Buddhist Era.

Section2.This Constitution shall come into force from the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section3.The name of this Country shall be known as Prathet Thai,[3] and in the provisions of the Constitution or any other law where the word Sayam[4] is used, the word Thai[5] shall be used instead.
