Translation:Mayoboc petition (9 May 1681)

We, Don Luis Catindig, Don Bentura Cagio, and Don Domingo de la Cruz, heads of the community, and we the other nobles Don Sebastián Capindan, Don Diego Santiago, Don Jullán de la Cruz, Don Bentura Dimarasigan, Don Ignacio Alvarez and Don Mateo Disamala, declare on behalf of and with the assent of all the residents here in the new town of San Pablo Mayoboc that we have made this notice of our obligation that we will give to the convent, which will come every year from the food of the one who will be our Father Guardian.

First, twenty pesos in true currency.

Second, two thousand salop of rice grain.

Third, one hen, one chick, and six eggs every afternoon.

Fourth, on the days of Advent, Fridays, Saturdays, and fasting days of the whole year, fish would be a delight to our Lord.

And the dispatches of our Father Guardian which are on the dates the Provincial Father and Commissary Father visit will not charge money from the people. And this is the town's obligation.

This is our entire town's agreement: it is enough to compel us to accomplish by any justice of the King our Lord to fulfill our notice of this obligation. Nevertheless, if the Lord God has pity and a stipend that is to be agreed upon is obtained from the convent, may our Lord Provincial Father relieve us of our obligation of the twenty pesos together with the two thousand salop of rice grain.

In proof of this, we signed our names in Tagalog writing in the presence of Don Domingo, chief lieutenant with the judicial staff here in the new town of San Pablo Mayoboc, visita of Gumaca, court of Calilayan, on the ninth day of the month of May of the year one thousand six hundred and eighty-one.
