Abraham begot Isaac
After The Holy One, blessed is He, named him Abraham, after that he begot Isaac. Another thing: Since the scripture wrote: "Isaac, son of Abraham", it had to say: "Abraham begot Isaac", because the insulters of the generation were saying: From Abimelech Sarah conceived, for how many years she stayed with Abraham and did not conceive from him. What did The Holy One, blessed is He, do? He Shaped the countenance of the face of Isaac like Abraham, and all testified: "Abraham begot Isaac". And this is what he wrote here: Isaac was the son of Abraham, for there is testimony that Abraham begot Isaac.

After he mentioned the generations of Ishmael, he returned to mention the generations of Isaac, which are Esau and Jacob.
And there are those who say that the meaning of begot Isaac: that he resembled his father, and all who saw him would testify that Abraham begot him. And there are those who say that the meaning of begot: raised and brought up, like "were brought up upon the knees of Joseph" (Genesis 50:23). And the proof: For he said: "And he sent them away from upon Isaac, his son" (Genesis 25:6).
