Royal Decree
Dissolving the House of People's Representatives,
2526 BE

Bhumibol Adulyadej R
Given on the 19th day of March 2526 BE
Being the 38th year of the present reign

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej gives a great royal command by which He orders with His pleasure that it be announced as follows:

Whereas the Prime Minister has humbly made the following submission to Him: Over the time that has passed, constitutional amendment has been sought for as many as four times so as to change the way Members of the House of People's Representatives are elected, [in respect of which] people and Members of the House of People's Representatives have expressed dissenting opinions in nearly equal proportions, making it possible for problems of political conflict and violence to happen if Members of the House of People's Representatives are permitted to be elected in such a new way at the present time, [and this] would lead to decadence of the economic [and] social system, the unity of the people in the Nation, and the administration under the democratic regime. It is appropriate to dissolve the House of People's Representatives in order to enable a general election of new Members of the House of People's Representatives;

Therefore, by virtue of the powers under the stipulations of section 101 and section 159 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, He orders with His gracious pleasure that the following Royal Decree be enacted:

Section1.This Royal Decree is called the "Royal Decree Dissolving the House of People's Representatives, 2526 BE".

Section2.This Royal Decree shall come into force from the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section3.The House of People's Representatives shall be dissolved.

Section4.A general election of new Members of the House of People's Representatives shall take place on the 18th day of April 2526 BE.

Section5.The Minister of Interior shall be in charge of the execution of this Royal Decree.

Countersignatory:
General P. Tinsulanonda
Prime Minister
