Establishing Galyani Vadhana District, Chiang Mai Province,
2552 BE

Being the 64th year of the present reign
Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej gives a great royal command by which He orders with His pleasure that it be announced as follows:
Whereas it is appropriate to establish an additional district in the area of Chiang Mai province for the sake of the administration and the convenience of people;
Therefore, by virtue of the powers under the stipulations of section 187 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand and section 61, paragraph 2, of the Act on Rules for Public Administration of the State, 2534 BE, He orders with His gracious pleasure that the following Royal Decree be enacted:
Section1.This Royal Decree is called the "Royal Decree Establishing Galyani Vadhana District, Chiang Mai Province, 2552 BE".
Section2.This Royal Decree shall come into force from the day following the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.
Section3.Chaem Luang subdistrict, Ban Chan subdistrict, and Mae Daet subdistrict of Mae Chaem district, Chiang Mai province, shall be separated from the said district and jointly established as Galyani Vadhana district.
Section4.The administrative territory of Galyani Vadhana district shall correspond to the territory of the former subdistricts [and shall be] separated from the territory of the district whose administrative territory used to cover those subdistricts, with a district office established in Chaem Luang subdistrict. In addition, Galyani Vadhana district shall be subject to the administration of Chiang Mai province.
Section5.The Minister of Interior shall be in charge of the execution of this Royal Decree.

Note: The grounds for promulgation of this Royal Decree are as follows: Whereas Chaem Luang subdistrict, Ban Chan subdistrict, and Mae Daet subdistrict of Mae Chaem district, Chiang Mai province, encompass a vast area with crowded communities and trading gatherings of which the conditions have been much more developed than before, but, geographically, they are located remotely, causing people to suffer inconvenience in contacting public [agencies], it is appropriate to separate the said subdistricts from Mae Chaem district, Chiang Mai province, and jointly establish them as Galyani Vadhana district, Chiang Mai province, for the sake of the administration, the provision of services by the State, the convenience of people, and the promotion of local development, as well as for honouring Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, the Princess of Narathiwat. It is therefore necessary to enact this Royal Decree.
