Paragraph 1- A borrower is not permitted to lend out. Even if one borrowed a Torah scroll, in which case he would perform a mitzvah by lending it out, he cannot lend it out to others. If he lent it out to others, even if the item was ruined because of the work it was lent for, the borrower would be liable unless he has proof that he would have been exempt had the item remained in his possession, as was discussed in 291:26. Nevertheless, a borrower is permitted to loan out an item that is impossible to evade and deny belongs to the owner, such as such a house or boat. See above Siman 316.
