Student little needs:
A book, feather, jug of water,
Trees' shadow, beautiful sky,
Even on a bread – student is own master!
All classes in kindred knot
Here interlock in friendship of schools –
Good first and last,
They work like a swarms of bees
But in this work and toil
Let who will find way once,
Then like a bee will prick of sting,
Though also [it] stinging dies at the time –
And holy string of poetry
Here trembles with life, happiness, tear –
Young heart boils not rended [1]
Eternally living – o, moment of tears!
And as today in kindred test
        Joint hearts with together –
As just only will join in a grave,
After this life – [they] will join the time!

  1. „Serce […] niespięte” – ? – „not braced, not torn, not rended heart”.
