Hi, I have a lot of affection for Leibniz, as perhaps my translation shows. ;)
This little dialog was written when Leibniz was only 27, and contains many themes of his later thought. Over time, I'll gradually add some notes to the discussion page here, to summarize the dialog and highlight various cool insights, or how Leibniz's ideas are viewed in modern times.
I had a lot of fun translating this. Dialogs are always enjoyable and Leibniz is in rare form as he ranges from God's justice to the identity of indistinguishable objects to the many-worlds hypothesis to transposition of souls to funny stories about the Devil and a hermit. Must be read to be believed; very, very cool.
