Translation talk:Mark

Again using NESTLE-ALAND GREEK NEW TESTAMENT 27TH EDITION. After translating I do check back against other versions just in case I've missed something, but don't use them at all. My only other reference is the Analytical Lexicon of the Greek New Testament. .--Jonathan Gallagher 23 December 2007

Mark 5:41

I'm not sure about this, but I think the phrase "talitha koum" should be "talitha koumi." I'll check this but I'm pretty sure that's how it should be.

Don't know about the Aramaic but in the Greek as transliterated it is "talitha koum." Similarly most translations... --Jonathan Gallagher 18:58, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

It's probably a textual issue--now that I've looked into it, it seems that Darby, KJV, and NKJV (being more textus-receptus leaning) have koumi as their Greek base, and the more modern versions have koum. I'll have to look into this some more, but I think my childhood KJV memorizing got in the way of my Greek knowledge here. Fontwords 20:31, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Okay, here's the situation. The "Textus Receptus" and "Byzantine Majority" readings both favor "Talitha koumi." But the "Alexandrine" text favored by Westcott and Hort contains "Talitha koum." There is disagreement between scholars as to which reading is best. Would it be all right with you if I added a footnote like "Some other Greek texts read 'Talitha koumi'" to the text? That's fine, and I appreciate the input. As you'll see, I haven't spent much time in footnoting, preferring to spend my time just getting a text together. I hope there'll be others who can add to the footnotes/comments. Jonathan Gallagher 22:45, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Records

I have just found out from Jayvdb that user Doc Glasgow translated the first 3 verses of Mark in March of 2007, 146.244.137.129 had began to translate the next eleven verses till May. I cleared it in June, and had the page completely deleted in September--I am not exactly sure why?--Jdavid2008 13:49, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Missing verses

I've found (when formatting the verse numbers) that some of the verses are missing, or at least their numbers are. Verse 52 in Chapter 14 and verses 22 and 24 in Chapter 15 don't exist. Could someone fix this? Thanks. —TeragR ^disc./con. 04:16, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
