Translation talk:Song of Songs
Add topicI mainly used the Masoretic text as presented in the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia and compared with the DDS and some common English Bibles such as the HCSB, KJV, & NWT. —unsigned comment by LittleStar (talk) 08:58, 6 April 2008.

[edit]Verses 1 through 4 were added by an IP. I don't know what sources they used.
The rest of the chapter I did using the Masoretic Text, borrowing translation choices from the King James Version and Gesenius' Lexicon whenever it seemed appropriate. For the headings distinguishing speakers I followed the lead of the headings as used in the World English Bible, although I used "He" and "She" instead of "Lover" and "Beloved." I don't think splitting the couple into one doing the loving and one being loved is warranted, especially given that the headings are there to signal grammatical details about number and gender. I've added chapter two, using KJV and Gesenius as before, and also consulting the public domain commentaries at Biblehub.com, along with Franz Delitzsch's commentary as translated by M. G. Easton, and the commentary by Andrew Harper. I've also consulted the World English Bible for assistance with paragraph heading as before.Alephb (talk) 19:26, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
