Information about this edition
Edition:
Source: The Primary Source used for translating the "Story of Jesus" is taken from the Yemenite version of "Maaseh Yeshu" (or what others call "Toledot Yeshu"), an abridged version of "Toledot Yeshu" written in the non-censored copies of the Midrash HaGadol, a 16th century CE compendium of ancient Hebrew and Aramaic midrashic literature. In most printed editions of the Midrash HaGadol, the story as told herein has been excised, so as not to offer an affront to those persons who see Jesus in a different light. The story has been published in its original Hebrew, in a book entitled, Ṣohar Leḥasifath Ginzei Teman, by Yehudah Levy Nahum, pp. 221–223. Its original, in manuscript form, is found today at the Hebrew University Library, Giv'at Ram Campus, Manuscript Dept., under the classification: Ms. Heb 4°17 – Samech (microfilm no. B-37, p. 70 on Deuteronomy 13:9). The same story is also found in an ancient Yemenite Baladi-rite Prayer Book (siddur), a microfilm of which is found at the Hebrew University National Library, Microfilm Dept., catalogued under # F-26787.Davidbena (talk) 04:42, 9 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
