S. 30 over to the Interstate Route, 30N should be eliminated in accordance with Paragraph 7, Page 5 of the AASHO Purpose and Policy in the Establishment and Development of U. S. Numbered Highways as Revised by the Association on January 1, 1959. |
U. S. 30 Relocation This routing will be over a temporary connection from present U. S. 30 west 0.6 mile to new Interstate Route 80N thence northerly with I-80N a distance of 3.4 miles, thence north to present U. S. 30 just south of New Plymouth. | |

U. S. 82 Extension of U. S. Route (Texas Section) This routing will begin at the present western terminus of the route in Lubbock thence over present U. S. 62 in a southwest direction to U. S. 380 in Brownfield, then west over U. S. 380 to Texas State Route 337 in Plains, then southwest over S. R. 337 to the Texas-New Mexico State Line. (New Mexico Section) This routing will begin at the New Mexico-Texas State Line on New Mexico State Route 337 and run southwest to S. R. 83 in Lovington thence westerly on S. R. 83 via Artesia, Maybill and Cloudcroft to U. S. 70 north of Alamogordo, thence southwest over U.S. 70 to junction with U.S. 80-85 in Las Cruces. | |

U. S. 98 Relocation This routing will begin at junction Florida State Route 30 and present U. S. 98 north of Medart, then run in an easterly direction over S. R. 30, a newly completed high standard facility, to the junction of present U. S. 98. and S. R. 363 west of Newport. | |
MARYLAND NOT APPROVED For the reason that such a routing does not comply with the provisions shown on page 3, under the heading "Alternate Routes" of the AASHO Purpose and Policy in the Establishment and Development of U. S. Numbered Highways as Revised by the Association on January 1, 1959. The necessity for an alternate routing under present policy was not discernible to the Committee as there is no apparent overcrowding of present U. S. 240 (Interstate 70 S). |
U. S. 240 A Establishment of an Alternate U. S. Route This routing will begin at interchange (Pooks Hill) in North Bethesda which is junction point of Interstate Route 70 S, U. S. 240 and Maryland State Route 355, then run northerly over S. R. 355 via Rockville, Gaithersburg, Clarksburg, Hyattstown, and Urbana to interchange with U. S. 40 in southern edge of Frederick. | |
MISSISSIPPI-ALABAMA GEORGIA NOT APPROVED Establishment of a new U. S. Route through areas requested was not approved for several reasons: 1) There were unprotected railroad crossings on the route. 2) The routing selected in several cases was substandard and could not comply with the requirements set forth on page 4, paragraph 4 of the AASHO Purpose and Policy in the Establishment and Development of U..S. Numbered Highways as Revised by the Association on January 1, 1959. Further, there appears to be an over-concentration of U. S. Routes in the areas affected by this routing with a consequent extremely low through traffic desire. The Committee recommended that the states involved give careful consideration to the upgrading and improvement of present U. S. Routes through the same corridor that would be affected by the proposed new U. S. route instead of adding an additional route. |
New U. S. Route Establishment of a U. S. Route (Mississippi Section) This routing will begin at the junction of U. S. 61 and Mississippi State Route 12 in Hollandale thence eastward over S. R. 12, via Belzoni and Lexington to S. R. 35 in Kosciusko, thence southerly on S. R. 35 to junction with S. R. 14 thence east over S. R. 14 to junction with S. R. 19 thence southeast over S. R. 19 via Philadelphia and Meridian to the Mississippi-Alabama State Line. (Alabama Section) This routing will begin at the Alabama-Mississippi State Line on Alabama State Route 10, thence southeast on S. R. 10 via Dixons Mills, Pine Hill, Kimbrough, Millers Ferry, Camden, Oakhill, Greenville, Luverne, Troy, Brundidge, and Abbeville to the Alabama-Georgia State Line west of Fort Gaines, Georgia. (Georgia Section) This routing will begin at the Georgia-Alabama State Line on Georgia State Route 37, thence eastward over S. R. 37 via Fort Gaines, Morgan, Camilla, Moultrie, Adel and Lakeland to junction with U. S. 84 approimately 3 miles souttrest of Homerville. | |
VIRGINIA- NORTH CAROLINA NOT APPROVED For the reason that there is no apparent indication that this new U. S. Route is needed for Interstate travel. There is also a further barrier to through traffic; that being a ferry crossing and there appeared to be a very low terminal traffic volume. |
New U. S. Route Establishment of a U. S. Route (Virginia Section) This routing could be over Virginia State Route 168 beginning at junction of U.S. 60 and S. R. 168 in Norfolk thence southerly to the Virginia-North Carolina State Line. (North Carolina Section) | |
