An Act to amend the Union of Benefices Act 1860.


[Assented to 25th july, 1898.]


 BE it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Extension of power to make schemes.

1. A scheme for the removal of a church or parsonage under the Union of Benefices Act, 1860,[1] may be made if it provides for the erection of another church or parsonage for a benefice in the vicinity of the metropolis, and any benefice within or partly within the Metropolitan Police District shall for the purposes of that Act and this Act be deemed to be in the vicinity of the metropolis.

Short title.

2. This Act may be cited as the Union of Benefices Act, 1898; and the Union of Benefices Act, 1860, and this Act may be cited together as the Union of Benefices Acts, 1860 and 1898.
