Declaration recognizing as compulsory the jurisdiction of the Court, in conformity with Article 36, paragraph 2, of the Statute of the International Court of Justice. Washington, 5 April 1947.

No. 16. DECLARATION[1] OF SWEDEN RECOGNIZING AS COMPULSORY THE JURISDICTION OF THE COURT, IN CONFORMITY WITH ARTICLE 36, PARAGRAPH 2, OF THE STATUTE OF THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE.

On behalf of the Royal Swedish Government I declare that it accepts as compulsory ipso facto and without special agreement, in relation to any other state accepting the same obligation, the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice, in accordance with Article 36, paragraph 2, of the Statute of the said Court, for a period of ten years, in all disputes which may arise with regard to situations or facts subsequent to the present declaration.
