Chap. XLIX.—An Act for reducing the duties payable on prize goods captured by the private armed vessels of the United States.
Reduction of duties on prize goods.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That on all goods, wares, and merchandise captured from the enemy, and made good and lawful prize of war, by any private armed ship or vessel of the United States, having a commission for making captures upon the enemy, or letters of marque and reprisal, and brought in to the United States or their territories, there shall be allowed a deduction of thirty-three and one third per cent. on the amount of duties at present imposed by law.
