Chap. CXXI.—An Act to authorize the governor of Illinois to obtain certain abstracts of lands from certain public offices.
The register of the land office at Vincennes to furnish a complete abstract of lands purchased and lying in Illinois, &c.
Ten cents to the register for each entry.
Proviso.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That it shall be the duty of the register of the United States’ land office at Vincennes, in the state of Indiana, to furnish to the governor of the state of Illinois, when he shall apply for the same, a complete abstract of all the lands which have been purchased at that office, or which may hereafter be purchased, which lie within the state of Illinois, designating the name of each purchaser, and the time of making the purchase; for which he shall be entitled to receive, from such applicant, at the rate of ten cents for each separate entry, a copy whereof is required; Provided, however, That all the expense incurred by virtue of this act, shall be defrayed by said state.
Secretary of the Treasury to cause a complete abstract to be made out, of military bounty lands patented to soldiers, lying in Illinois.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty of the Secretary of the Treasury, upon the application of the governor of said state, to cause a complete abstract to be made out, for the use of said state, of all the military bounty lands which have been patented to the soldiers of the late army, lying within the same, designating the name of each patentee.
