Chap. IX.—An Act for the preservation of the timber of the United States in Florida.
Act of March 1, 1817, ch. 22.
The President may employ the land and naval forces to prevent the destruction of, or carrying away, public timber, &c.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President of the United States be, and hereby is, authorized to employ so much of the land and naval forces of the United States as may be necessary effectually to prevent the felling, cutting down, or other destruction of the timber of the United States in Florida; and also to prevent the transportation or carrying away any such timber as may be already felled or cut down; and to take such other and further measures as may be deemed advisable for the preservation of the timber of the United States in Florida.
