Chap. CLXXXIII.—An Act to exempt deserters, in time of peace, from the punishment of death.
Desertion in time of peace not to be punished with death.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That from and after the passage of this act, no officer or soldier in the army of the United States, shall be subject to the punishment of death, for desertion in time of peace.
