Chap. CCXXIII.—An Act concerning certain officers of the marine corps.[1]
Allowance to officers of the marine corps.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President of the United States be, and he hereby is, authorized to cause to be allowed and paid to such officers of the marine corps, as have heretofore received the brevet rank of majors in said corps, the amount of pay and emoluments to which they would have been entitled as commandants of separate stations, if said brevet rank had been recognised by the Navy Department:Proviso. Provided, That no officer shall receive under this act more than the difference between the pay and emoluments actually received by them, and those to which their said brevet rank would have entitled them as aforesaid.
