Chap. LIX.An Act to test the utility of the sub-marine telescope.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,Sec. Navy to institute the experiments to test it. That the Secretary of the Navy be authorized and directed to institute such experiments under the superintendence of competent and trustworthy persons, as will fully test the utility of the sub-marine telescope invented by Mrs. Sarah P. Mather, and ascertain its value, if any, to the public service; and the expenses of which shall be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated:Proviso. Provided, That said expenses shall not exceed the sum of two thousand dollars.
