Chap. XXXVI.—An Act granting William Wells the right of pre-emption.
Pre-emption right to be granted.Be it enacted, &c., That William Wells shall have the right of pre-emption to three hundred and twenty acres of land, to include his improvements situate at Fort Wayne, in the Indiana Territory, at the confluence of the rivers St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s, which form the Miami of the lake; the boundaries of which shall be designated under the direction of the Secretary of the Treasury; which tract of land shall be granted to him at the same price, and on the same terms for which other public lands are sold at private sale, and the respective instalments of the purchase-money shall become due at the same time with those of the first public lands which may be sold in the tract of six miles square, ceded by the treaty of Greenville to the United States, at the confluence of said rivers.
