Chap. XX.—An Act for the relief of Alexander Scott.
Account to be settled. Be it enacted, &c., That the Secretary for the Department of State be directed to cause to be settled the accounts of Alexander Scott, for his trouble and expenses in liberating from confinement, in supplying with provisions and other necessaries, and in sending from Porto Cavello to the port of New York, the crew of the private armed schooner Rosamond, who were confined on board a Spanish armed vessel at that place; and also for his trouble and expenses in supplying with provisions and other necessaries, and in sending sundry distressed American seamen from Porto Rico to the port of New York; and that he allow the said Alexander Scott full reimbursement for all expenses incurred for the purposes aforesaid, and also such compensation for his trouble therein as may be deemed just and equitable.
Appropriation.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That a sum not exceeding nine thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purposes aforesaid.
