Chap. CXLVII.—An Act for the relief of Moses Turner.
To be discharged from imprisonment.Be it enacted, &c., That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he hereby is authorized and directed to cause to be discharged from imprisonment, Moses Turner of Poultney, in the State of Vermont, who is now confined in jail on final process, issued on a judgment in favor of the United States, against him, said Moses, and Nathaniel Taft; and that the said Moses be, and hereby is released and discharged from the payment of the balance due on said judgment, upon the payment of all costs and marshal’s fees, due for his, said Moses’ commitment: Provided always, That nothing in this act contained shall be so construed as to affect or discharge the said Nathaniel Taft, or any co-obligator, from the payment of any sum or sums of money due thereon to the United States.
