Some things I want to note
[edit]- Vivian Grey, volume 1 has one of the best dedications I've read. You "will accept and appreciate the compliment," even those of whom the compliment is not directed at.
- The Complete Confectioner has the longest title I've come across: The Complete Confectioner; or, Housekeeper's Guide: to a simple and speedy method of understanding the whole art of confectionary; the various ways of preserving and candying, dry and liquid, all kinds of fruit, nuts, flowers, herbs, &c. and the method of keeping them fresh and fine all year around; the different ways of clarifying sugar; with directions for making fruit pastes, bomboons, pastils, compotes, fruit ices; cream ices, marmalades, jellies, jams, cakes, puffs, biscuits, tarts, custards, ckeesecakes, sweetmeats, fritters, creams, syllabubs, blanc-mange, flummeries, ornaments for grand entertainments, dragees, syrups of all kinds, nicknacks and trifles for deserts, strong cordials, oils, simple waters, milk punch that will keep 20 years, and all sorts of English wines; also, the art of making artificial fruit, with the stalks in it, so as to resemble the natural fruit; to which are added, some bills of fare for deserts for private families.
- When You Write a Letter, another amusing dedication. "To my former students and all others who have not answered my letters".

Texts I've Added
[edit]Common Law Series
[edit]My comments and observations of common law court cases I add. Like Tale of Two Cities and English Criminal Statutes Series on 廣九直通車's page.
McGinn v Aus Info Comm and perhaps Yates J
[edit]A seemingly ordinary case about a customer and a car dealership in privacy dispute that results into various email between McGinn and the Court, allegations of bias (dismissed in No 2), an appeal to a single Justice of the High Court (unsuccessful), and No 3 being unnecessary (see [10] on No 3). Yates J will be retiring soon (on or around 26 November 2024 as indicated by a live stream on the Federal Court's YouTube channel), so this will be moving to a different judge.
- McGinn v Australian Information Commissioner [2024] FCA 1185
- McGinn v Federal Court of Australia [2024] HCASJ 38
- McGinn v Australian Information Commissioner (No 2) [2024] FCA 1196
- McGinn v Australian Information Commissioner (No 3) [2024] FCA 1271
Politician-involved cases
[edit]Politicians (and former politicians with comfortable private sector jobs) have access to lots of money (from their salary and other things like property investments) and recently a few of them have been taking each other as well as others to court. The real winners? Counsel, solicitors, and law firms.
- Berejiklian v Independent Commission Against Corruption [2024] NSWCA 177
- Greenwich v Latham [2024] FCA 1050
- Faruqi v Hanson [2024] FCA 1264
- Deeming v Pesutto (No 3) [2024] FCA 1430
Rex Patrick and the sports rorts document
[edit]Former senator took on the Attorney-General regarding destruction of ministerial documents. The Attorney-General lost at first instance and appealed. The Full Court of Federal Court dismissed the appeal. This series of cases relate to the sports rorts affair
