Letter Case of Topic Names

Thank for your contributions of the Encyclopedia of Music. It is really great to see another encyclopedia project get started here. I would suggest that the article titles not be put in CAPS. Although that style was common in such books, all other encyclopedia projects here have converted the titles to the more readable (on a computer screen) style. Also I wanted to let you know we currently have a request in to have w:GNU LilyPond enabled here. It is not currently working but I though you might be interested to know it is in the works before you scan the entire encyclopedia.--BirgitteSB 18:05, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't know alot about music. Maybe we can ask someone else about which way they should be. I know someone knowledgable to ask. About Lilypond. HI Damon. Great work on the music encyclopedia, but you should probably use upper case-lower case (such as Abel, J.E.) for names. In general, terms shoudl start with caps. Danny 19:48, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Damon, sorry about adding yet another comment to your talk page. We all are VERY glad that you're working on another encyclopedia project, and I would have one favor to ask. This is in line with Danny's comment above. But, for all page names, could you just capitalize the first letter of each word? This would take care of capitalizing all names and all terms, and is more in line with how all of our other encyclopedia projects work. Thanks! I'll come thought (assuming no one beats me to it) and delete all the redirects from the page moves. Hi, again.

I'm not sure how far (if at all) you've come with page moves, but I BELIEVE there is a quick and easy way to do the moves all at once. It will require regex to do. Pathoschild wrote a script that can do mass page moves, and with the right regex statement, we should be able to get the first letter of each word capitalized. If not, well, I've got plenty of free time tomorrow to do page moves/deletes.  :)

About using bots to bulk update/mirror content here, I'm not the most knowledgable person about this. You might try asking Pathoschild. We've got a number of bots working here on WS, but I don't know how many are based off Pywikipedia or are just scripts thrown together by the users (I believe a number of the bots are mixtures of the two). Again, though, that would be a question for Pathoschild.

Just a follow up to my last comment. All the pages will be moved and the first letter of all the articles will be capitalized. This will cover most of the articles. Could you change your script though, so that the two parameters "section=" and "notes=" are included when you add the pages? You're right, you didn't mislead anyone. You were very upfront about it, and there's really no problem. It's common on these projects that if people are using automated scripts on non-bot accounts they have very long periods in between the script edits--which is the biggest issue right now. With the current 10 second intervals, in just a mere matter of minutes, RC will be flooded by automated updates. This keeps people from patrolling the RC to make sure that there isn't any vandalism in the edits that are strictly human edits. And while this isn't an issue, just a suggestion. Since you are working very quickly (and with massive amounts of changes that are made to the pages), it is necessary to have a bot account to do it so that the changes can be hidden from the RC.—Zhaladshar ^(Talk) 02:10, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
