[edit]Thanks for all your help with the past few CotWs, it's been a treat to see its active members grow, and you've been among the most active! Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Wikisource:Confucianism 19:57, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- COTW is like a weekly meet-up with users with random stuff to do. Sometimes I can make it and help, other times I just quietly pitch in here and there. It's somewhat addictive! - Mtmelendez 13:03, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
I see it's going to be a race for you to finish Shih King, the Book of Odes before the 10th, just like it will be for me with the Classic of History. Good luck! Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Wikisource:Confucianism 18:59, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Sacred texts
[edit]wrt to Shih King, the Book of Odes, it looks like the sacred-texts etext is Index:Sacred Books of the East 3.djvu (Sacred Books of the East/Volume 3). See also Wikisource:Confucianism for a link to the gutenberg etext of the same volume. John Vandenberg (chat) 15:38, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Woah, I think you're right. I'll verify it later today. - Mtmelendez 15:48, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- The OCR button asks User:ThomasBot to w:OCR the image. It isnt very useful if you already have a good copy of the text. John Vandenberg (chat) 12:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
The Z problem

DjVu
[edit]PDFs should be converted to DjVu files. See Help:DjVu files
The simplest process is to use Any2DjVu, which should copy the PDF text layer into the DjVu. My bot can then automatically upload the DjVu text layer into the pages, so only proofreading is required. If you are having difficulties, you can upload the PDF file onto Commons, and I or another person with a bit of experience with DjVu files will fiddle and try to work out the best approach. Sysoped
[edit]You are officially appointed as an admin. Congratulations on the extra buttons!--BirgitteSB 01:12, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, thanks! I'll add a lot more pages now to my watchlist, helping out where I can. :) - Mtmelendez 12:54, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- First task/project ... add some or all of those extra buttons to MediaWiki:Common.js; perhaps propose the most useful at WS:S. :-) John Vandenberg (chat) 13:25, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- Right! This is a good place to start. I have some new button ideas I'll implement these next few days, after that I'll ask the Scriptorium for an opinion. - Mtmelendez 19:54, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
ACLU vs NSA pagination
[edit]Thanks, I have posted my suggestion at the Scriptorium. I'm sure it won't take longer than an hour or so, it just needs a mark to show the end of each of the 44 pages. The numbers can be incremented by one if the consensus is to show the beginning of a new page, rather than the end of the previous. Theophobic 22:00, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
A familiar face! Deletion question
[edit]Hi. I'm here because I wasn't sure where better to ask. :) I wandered over from Wikipedia while working the copyright problems board (a page was inappropriately tagged there as a copyvio, since it is public domain by double whammy--presidential proclamation from 1903), and in moving the material here--correctly I hope--found a misspelled category that is US-centric to boot: Category:Presidential proclaimations. I've established a new category, Category:United States Presidential proclamations (not sure; perhaps I should have capitalized that final P since Proclamation may have the force of title). I'm wondering if there is some kind of deletion tag akin to Wikipedia's CSD#C1 to advise admins here that the category is unpopulated and might be a good candidate for deletion? I'll pop back in at Wikisource to see if you've responded, but I am (all too often) available at Wikipedia, here. If there's something I should do to follow up on this, please let me know (when it is convenient; I see that you're busy), and I will certainly happily follow up. :) --Moonriddengirl 12:59, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help! I've tagged it for deletion. It's always amazing to me how disoriented I become when I wander away from Wikipedia. It's all so familiar and yet so strange at the same time. Very "rabbit hole". :) --Moonriddengirl 13:58, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
sysop reconfirmation
[edit]Have you forgotten about us?? See Wikisource:Administrators#Mtmelendez If you dont plan on using the tools in the foreseeable future, a resysop request later will likely be approved quickly by the community, but anything could change between now and then. --John Vandenberg (chat) 07:48, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Sysop resignation
[edit]I hereby confirm my resignation of my sysop rights. Thank you for your support. - Mtmelendez (talk) 12:52, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Page User:Mtmelendez/Munich
[edit]I have converted the Munich page to be disambiguation, so not sure what you wish to recover or add to the disambig page, or if you would prefer for the subpage to be cleansed. -- billinghurst (talk) 07:43, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Index:Excerpt from A Narrative Briefly Descriptive of the Period 1919 to 1936 regarding Al Capone.djvu
[edit]I have purged the file at Commons, and the text layer is now available with the work. Makes things a lot easier than all that typing. billinghurst sDrewth 13:24, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
