I noticed you had a question about a duplicate article of Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction. I could help you out better if you gave the link to the other copy. If they are both identical copies one should have its text replaced with a redirect. If there are differences in the text, try to figure out which comes from a better source. The best way to do this is go to the page history of the text you did not input yourself and find the Username of the person who did. Then leave a note on their talk page asking them about their source and opinion on which is the more proper name. If the two compare note on your sources one may turn out to the obvoius choice. Be sure and put the in you have gather on sources on the talk page of the aritcle. If you like you can use the text box found here.--BirgitteSB 13:43, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

Linking Index to article
[edit]Hi, You will need to first proofread the page from the NYT that is within the Index. If there's no content there, it can't be linked. Once that is done, then we can "transclude" the proofread text over the top of the copy/paste text. At that point the "source" tab will show up. You will note that I have moved the article to the appropriate place in the NYT tree. I have also added it to Portal:The New York Times for you. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 03:13, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- I don't understand how I'm supposed to proofread the 160+ year old newspaper; it's not like it's getting edited at this point. If you mean proofread the transcription I made of it, I've already done that. Rogue 9 (talk) 03:43, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Seems unnecessarily complicated, but sure, one copy paste job coming right up. Rogue 9 (talk) 04:11, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Transclusion done for you. You now need to categorise the article and add the appropriate PD template to justify its retention (see Help:PD). Beeswaxcandle (talk) 04:23, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- I don't see what part of "1858" is difficult to understand, but okay. Rogue 9 (talk) 04:27, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Anyway, I've got days of work ahead of me in this case; I've spent the past week digitally transcribing documents by having the scans of the newspapers in one screen and Notepad in the other typing, and have a lot of catching up to do with this procedure. Fortunately my day job's shut down for the next week and change at least... Rogue 9 (talk) 04:37, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
