Add topicHello Visviva, welcome to Wikisource! Thanks for your interest in the project; we hope you'll enjoy the community and your work here.
You'll find an (incomplete) index of our works listed at Wikisource:Works, although for very broad categories like poetry you may wish to look at the categories like Category:Poems instead.
Please take a glance at our help pages (especially Adding texts and Wikisource's style guide). Most questions and discussions about the community are held at the Scriptorium.
The Community Portal lists tasks you can help with if you wish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page! John Vandenberg (chat) 02:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
welcome to help
[edit]Visviva, I saw you are planning to upload a periodical? Whenever you do upload it and its ready to be proffread, just contact me and I will start helping you proofread it. Looking for a new project, so perfect timing. - Tannertsf (talk) 22:21, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- That would be awesome, thanks; I will definitely let you know. Still have some hoops to jump through, though; not sure when it will be ready. -- Visviva (talk) 06:32, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Reviving an old project
[edit]Hi, I saw you noticed my work on The Afro-American Press and Its Editors, and I was curious whether/how well you knew Wikisource. I noticed that years ago, you appear to have done a great deal of work on the memorial program for Frances Wood Shimer, but abandoned the task partway through. I've taken a stab at getting it published here in a more useful format, and I'll continue chipping away at it...seems a shame for all your excellent work to go to waste! -Pete (talk) 00:49, 28 February 2020 (UTC)
- Well, this sure is a blast from the past. Thanks for your efforts! Looking over that material I realize just how much I've forgotten about how things work around here, but I'll try to get back up to speed so I can make myself useful. -- Visviva (talk) 06:02, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Please let me know if you'd like any guidance. I think some things have changed (probably mostly in ways that make things easier) since you were last editing. Maybe you'd like to work a bit on The Afro-American Press and Its Editors with me, and I could show you the ropes in the process. The easiest way would probably be to start with the index page for the work: Index:The Afro-American Press.djvu. If you click on any page that shows up in yellow highlight, you can look at it closely for any errors, and then click edit and the green "Validated" button, and then save. This will give you a chance to see how some things work, without having to do much editing yourself, but it would still be quite useful, as you might catch the occasional typo...just a thought! -Pete (talk) 19:41, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
