Unmatched P tags

[edit]

You might find {{pbr}} and {{pbri}} useful. These templates were designed for the use case you've encountered. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:48, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Perfect, thanks! Zinnober9 (talk) 04:58, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you wanted to add a "P (break in discussion entry)" check to your linting , feel free, there isn't a script for finding this automatically though. That said, (URL removed) might find some of them. Not all of them can be repaired though. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:46, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hmm. It seems that might be considered contentious so don't worry about doing anything further on this. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 22:42, 17 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I haven't found the perfect balance just yet, but I'm feeling it out. Been gauging it on how many p closers preexisting on a page. On pages with few to no p closers doing the pbr templates, and many p closers just adding p closers to those unclosed, but still gauging where that tipping point is. If it's too contentious, then I'll lean harder towards just adding the p closers. Zinnober9 (talk) 23:10, 17 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just stop editing talk pages entirly would be easier. No one will complain about it you just improve Page: content, which is kind of what I originally asked about. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 23:13, 17 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations.

You seem to have cleared out nearly all of the unprotected Tidy Font issues!.. If and when Xover responds the remainder can be dealt with as well:). I suggest asking on the Scriptorum as well. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:44, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! Finished off Misnested as well, barring a few protected pages. Stripped tags won't take long and is likely next to be cleared out. Zinnober9 (talk) 19:07, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
There may be some you can't solve, the DIV in a list item glitch is a known issue. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:31, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good to know, I won't waste time on those divs then. I see there are a dozen or so of those scattered through the remaining pages. While I do love completely removing a full error type, I do realize some issues just aren't solvable. Zinnober9 (talk) 21:05, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Some of the stripped DIV's are solveable, but if you can't find a solution, don't waste time seeking completion was what I meant :) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 21:08, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
In case you wanted some additional quick reductions (These are missing tags/ but often pair up with stripped tag error approaches.)- The vast bulk of the missing tags are unpaired bold/italic which you previously said did not interest you :).

Not a linter, but possibly an area you can assist with..

It would be nice if someone could take on the task of finding and resolving the situations mentioned towards the end of the ticket.
ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:43, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

'De-fanging' Shotcut/combined proprities (as mentioned in the linked ticket) in in inline CSS is a good idea, as it might make it easier to do all the night-mode migrations as well. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:46, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand much of that, so I don't think I'm the person for that task. And I'm not touching Nightmode issues until it's clearer what and how the Wikimedia community wants to fix those. Zinnober9 (talk) 19:05, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
The task would be searching for background:<color> and where appropriate replacing it with background-color:<color>, Ideally the place to look would be inside TemplateStyles and IndexStyles. If this was a linter it would be along the lines of "CSS style is not discrete".. Maybe ask Jonsey95 about it, or start a conversation at the Scriptorum.
