Wagga Wagga Cattle Driving.
An Act to confine the driving of cattle, sheep, and travelling stock through the town of Wagga Wagga to certain streets of the said town. [28th August, 1902.]
Preamble.
Whereas it is necessary for the safety of the public to confine the driving of cattle and sheep intended for sale or slaughter through the town of Wagga Wagga to certain streets of the said town; also to confine the driving of travelling stock through the said town of Wagga Wagga aforesaid to certain streets of the said town: Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—
Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the "Wagga Wagga Cattle Driving Act of 1902."
No cattle, sheep, or travelling stock to be driven through Wagga Wagga except by certain streets. 2. No cattle or sheep intended for sale or slaughter, and no travelling stock, shall be driven through, in, or upon any street within the town of Wagga Wagga mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and every person who drives or causes to be driven any such cattle, sheep, or travelling stock as aforesaid through, in, or upon any of the said streets within the town of Wagga Wagga aforesaid shall, on conviction before one or more justices of the peace, forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding twenty shillings for each and every head of cattle, and not exceeding ten shillings for each and every head of sheep so driven.
Act does not apply to the north ward of the Borough of Wagga Wagga. 3. This Act shall not apply to the north ward of the Borough of Wagga Wagga.
Interpretation. 4. In the construction of this Act, the word "cattle" shall extend to and include bulls, cows, oxen, heifers, and steers, but shall not be held to apply to milch cows, or cattle in teams, or to working bullocks. The words "travelling stock" shall mean travelling stock of every description as defined by any Act or Acts regulating or controlling travelling stock in the State of New South Wales.
