BUSH, Harry A. (XEWCHWANO\ Merchant; b. Shanghai, April 5, 1865; m. Maud Frances McGlew, of Brooklyn, 1895. Educ.: Bognor College, Forest School, Cheltenham, England. Was educated for Army; resigned Army in April, 1881, to join firm established by father at Newchwang in 1860; entered firm as shipping clerk, and taken into partnership in 1883; now senior partner; holder of considerable mining concessions in Manchuria; is strenuous upholder of British interests, and has done much to assist Britishers in Manchuria and North China; was of great assistance to Japanese in recent war, and has been decorated,by Japanese Emperor; was awarded gold medals by Field Marshal Oyama and Barou Kodamx for services to Japanese at Newchwang; witnessed engagements in vicinity of Newchwang.
