Wikisource:News/2006-03-04/Blocking policy proposed
Part of the continuing development of Wikisource's infrastructure and documentation, a proposal was posted at the Scriptorium to adopt a new blocking policy. The policy is closely modelled on its Wikipedian counterpart, expanded to include general definitions of policy violations and abuse of editing priviledges.
The policy primarily expounds on the justifications for blocking users. It briefly covers a technical explanation and the idea of administrator's discretion. The policy also documents the effects of being blocked, help on the block feature, and guidelines about conflict of interest. Efforts were made in drafting the proposal to address concerns raised about the Wikipedia policy. Other editors have expressed support for the policy, and it is expected to pass after discussion and tweaking.
