---|
Please add works that you would like to be retrieved from NARA to the list below. Please provide as much information as you can, including the ARC reference, as this will help us to locate that work. Please add only works that you think are valuable or that you have a personal interest in, as the users on the ground at NARA are only human!
When works have been located and uploaded to Commons (or other appropriate file-hosting service if the data is not Commons-ready), it should be moved to the Work preparation list.
Searching
[edit]Basically there are three ways to search NARA for possibly interesting WS-hostable stuff
The list

- Voting Rights Act of 1965 ARC #299909
- Incredibly, the poor-quality black and white scans (from microfilm?) on that catalog page are the only digital copy we have of this important work, except the first and last page only, which were scanned for a past online exhibit. I have requested that this, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ARC #299891 be rescanned in high-quality color, and there is a good chance they will be done relatively soon because they are a high priority. I'm not yet sure at what pace they work or what "soon" means by their standards, though, so this will be our first experiment. Dominic (talk) 19:50, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Readable versions of the VRA and CRA are already available at Page:United_States_Statutes_at_Large_Volume_79.djvu/477 and Page:United States Statutes at Large Volume 78.djvu/283. —Spangineer (háblame) 17:31, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, finding the text of these laws, which are all printed in publications like that, is not an issue. What we are working on getting is a high-quality scan of the original copy signed by the president. Dominic (talk) 18:06, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

- The Seventeenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution -- this is an important political issue currently, and there is a peer review of the Wikipedia article about the amendment currently underway. -Pete (talk) 18:58, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- Photography of Dorothea Lange -- there are a few photos here and here, but it looks as though there are many more in the archives? -Pete (talk) 21:08, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- There are a couple of thousand in commons:Category:Dorothea Lange Most of these come from the NARA mass upload. We used NARA's authority control to automatically add the Dorothea Lange creator template and category to the Commons image uploads, so anything uploaded by NARA so far and credited to Lange in their metadata will appear there. Do you see any other photos in the NARA collection that haven't yet been digitized, or are digitized but not uploaded in high-resolution? Dominic (talk) 00:03, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, OK. Ignore this request then, sorry -- thanks for the explanation, I'll explore those. -Pete (talk) 19:14, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

- The three items linked on this page: http://www.digitalvaults.org/tags/o/oregon.html There do not appear to be high-resolution scans available on this site. -Pete (talk) 16:15, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
