Mr. Happiness Takes a Train
On that day there were milkweed plants;
I saw a running net of ants
And at the river I said goodbye
To all my happiness.
(Goodbye, Mr. Happiness, O, goodbye)
Up the hill
The maples hurried, and were still.
I was content. I walked until
I put my hand on the kitchen door.
Mr. Happiness won't come here any more.
