SPILBERG, ADRIANA,
Was born at Amsterdam, in 1646. She was taught painting by her father, John Spilberg, an eminent historical and portrait painter. Her best works were portraits in crayon, though she sometimes painted in oil. Her eminent abilities caused her to be invited to the court of the electress, at Dusseldrop, where she was received with marks of respect and honour. She married the celebrated painter, Eglon Vander Neer.
