Beißker, masculine, ‘loach,’ adopted from Slavonic (Bohemian piskoŕ, Russian piskárĭ), and based by popular etymology on beißen (the fish is also called Steinbeißer, ‘river-loach,’ Schlammbeißer, ‘pond-loach’).
